Schüttgut-Forum 2019

19.11. – 20.11.2019

Würzburg, Germany

How do you produce dust-free granules and pellets from powders and liquids? In the fluid bed. In a single process step. Didier Schons, Area Sales Manager, Process Technology Food, Feed & Fine Chemicals at Glatt Ingenieurtechnik Weimar, explains how this works.

As part of the presentation program for the Expert Forum on Bulk Materials Handling, Didier Schons will address the almost limitless possibilities offered by this technology for the particle design of bulk materials in all areas of the powder processing industries in his presentation “Production and functionalization of granulates and pellets in the fluid bed”.
Powders and liquids can be granulated, coated, dried and functionalized in the fluid bed and spouted bed in a single step.
Product properties such as freedom from dust, particle size and particle size distribution, porous or compact structure, particle density, bulk density, homogeneity, hygroscopicity, surface properties, abrasion resistance, solubility, storability, dosing capability, flowability, optical attractiveness, taste or odor, release behavior/deposition effect and others can be specifically influenced in this way.
The key to the optimum product lies in the correct selection of the process parameters and in the multitude of their possible combinations.
The presentation will give a comprehensive overview of the possibilities based on product examples and their applications for end products and ingredients whether as flavor/fragrances, sweeteners, enzymes, vitamins, microorganisms, probiotics, oils, salts, acids, color pigments, urea, texturizers, yeast, ceramics, minerals, trace elements, lactose, starch, polymers, phosphonates, stabilizers, proteins, plant extracts, instant products such as tea, cocoa, coffee, spice mix, soups, but also as industrial salts, detergents or cleaning agents, seeds, cellulose, fertilizers or pesticides and so many others.
