2nd Conference of abonocare® – sustainable nutrient recycling from organic residues

July 6, 2021, 9:00-16:00

The program is dedicated to efficient strategies and technologies for an economic and sustainable use of organic residues, new approaches of nutrient recycling and the latest research results from the abonocare® growth core.

  • Challenges of organic residues for nutrient recycling
  • abonocare® technology pathways for the processing of organic residues
  • Political situation and legal framework
  • Operator models (in the nitrogen and phosphorus sector)

The event is free of charge and will take place online. Organizer is the Fraunhofer IKTS

In his presentation ‘Fertilizer production from N- and P-rich recyclates using spray granulation’, Dr. Michael Jacob, Head of Process Technology, Glatt Ingenieurtechnik will explain why Glatt is so actively involved in the topic of phosphorus recovery from ash. He will outline the contribution Glatt is making in the abonocrae 4 joint project with the development of formulations for suspensions with increased solids content and the elaboration of technological solutions with which circulation processes can be made more efficient. Glatt itself markets the technological approach for producing fertilizer from phosphate-containing sewage sludge ash under the name “PHOS4green”. Dr. Jacob will discuss the concept, the solution approach and the advantages of the process based on spray granulation in the fluid bed and show product examples. A presentation of an industrial-scale reference plant at Seraplant in Haldensleben will round off the presentation.

The joint project abonocare 4 is concerned with the production of fertilizer granules
and special soil mixtures from phosphorus-containing secondary raw materials. The project is funded by the funding program “Innovative Regional Growth Cores” of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), duration: 01.04.2019 to 31.03.2022, Glatt funding code: 03WKDI3F.
